Questions about Pokémon Café reservations
Straight answers to the questions this project actually had to settle: can a booking be changed, when does cancellation close, is a deposit required, and is proxy booking allowed.
Can I use this site to book a table?
No. pokecafe.shop is an invite-only tool for one private group. There is no sign-up, there is nothing to buy, and it does not take booking requests from the public.
When do seats go on sale?
In monthly batches, at a date and time the cafe publishes in advance. On 23 August 2026 the cafe's booking site announced that reservations for every date from 1 to 31 October 2026 would open at once, at 18:00 Japan time on Tuesday 1 September 2026. Between releases the calendar shows a rolling window of roughly the next month: 38 days on 24 August 2026, 30 days on 31 August 2026. The cafe's own site is the only reliable source for the next release date.
Can a booking be changed after it is made?
No — not the date, the time, the seat or the party size. Three separate things said so in August 2026: the reservation page offers only cancel and back-to-top in every state it has; there is no edit or change step anywhere in the booking flow; and the confirmation email states outright that changes to the number of guests are not accepted after a reservation is made. The only route to a different slot is to cancel and book again, and the seat you gave up goes straight back into the public pool.
When does online cancellation close?
At 22:00 Japan time on the day BEFORE the reservation date — not at midnight, and not on the day itself. Read off the cafe's own confirmation page at 22:24 Japan time on 29 August 2026, which said that the reservation could no longer be cancelled from the site. After the cutoff the cancel link is simply not there.
Can a same-day booking be cancelled?
Not online. The cafe's page says to telephone the cafe directly, on the number published on its own site. Book a same-day slot only if you intend to turn up.
What is needed to cancel a booking?
Both the reservation ID and the phone number that was given when the booking was made. A wrong or empty number is refused. A reservation ID on its own — and it travels in plain email and sits in a URL — cannot cancel anybody's table.
If someone cancels, does the seat come back?
Yes, and immediately, into the public pool where anyone can take it. There is no queue and no waiting list. One seat released on 24 August 2026 had been taken by somebody else within the hour.
Is a deposit or card payment required?
This is NOT established, and the honest answer is that we do not know. One booking for six guests in Osaka on 29 August 2026 reached the final confirmation step with no card form and no deposit requested. That is a single observation, at one party size, on one date. The cafe may require payment for other bookings and can change its terms at any time. Do not plan around it.
Is proxy or agency booking allowed?
No. The terms page that must be agreed to before the booking form prohibits proxy booking, using a reservation made that way, reselling or transferring reservations for profit, and commercial use of the service. It states that where such conduct is found the reservation may be voided and entry refused, with no refund of any kind. Read on 23 August 2026.
How hard is it to get a table outside a release?
Sparse and unpredictable. A sweep of both cafes at every party size from one to six, across the whole bookable window, returned zero bookable slots on 24 August 2026. A comparable sweep on 29 August 2026 found nine. The dependable moment is the monthly release itself; the rest of the time you are waiting for other people's cancellations.
