How Pokémon Café reservations work
Dated, first-hand notes on the Pokémon Café reservation system: when a month's seats go on sale, the fifteen-minute hold, the emailed code, the 22:00 cancellation cutoff, and why a booking cannot be changed once it is made.
How we know any of this
These notes come from operating one small booking tool against the café's public site during August 2026, and from the café's own pages and confirmation emails. Each claim below carries the date it was observed. The café can change any of it without telling anyone, so treat a dated observation as what it is: true on that date.
Seats appear a month at a time, not gradually
This is the single fact that changes how you should approach it. Dates are not released one by one as they come into range. A whole month opens at once, at an instant the café announces in advance on its own booking site.
Observed 23 August 2026: the café's site announced that every date from 1 to 31 October 2026 would open for reservation at 18:00 Japan time on Tuesday 1 September 2026.
Between releases the calendar covers a rolling window of roughly the next month — 38 days on 24 August 2026, 30 days on 31 August 2026. Whatever is left in that window is what other people have not taken or have given back.
The practical consequence: if you want a specific date, and especially a larger table, the release instant is the moment that matters. Checking daily in between is mostly watching other people's cancellations.
Choosing a slot starts a fifteen-minute hold
Picking a time does not reserve anything. It puts the seat aside for fifteen minutes while you finish the rest of the form. If you do not finish inside that window the hold lapses and the seat returns to everybody else.
Finishing means giving a name and reading back a short code the café emails to the address you typed on the form. So you need to be able to read that mailbox at the time you are booking — the code is time-limited and the hold is running while you look for it.
Cancellation closes at 22:00 the day before
Not midnight, and not on the day itself. 22:00 Japan time on the day before the reservation date. After that the cancel control is simply not on the page any more.
Observed 29 August 2026, 22:24 Japan time: the café's own confirmation page for a next-day booking stated that the reservation could not be cancelled from the site, and that anyone needing to cancel should telephone the café directly.
Cancelling online needs two things: the reservation ID and the phone number given when the booking was made. A wrong or empty number is refused. That is worth knowing in both directions — it means a reservation ID leaking on its own cannot cost you your table, and it means you cannot cancel a booking whose phone number you do not have.
A booking cannot be changed
Not the date, not the time, not the seat, not the party size. There is no edit step, and the café's confirmation email states that changes to the number of guests are not accepted once a reservation is made.
So "changing" a booking means cancelling it and making a new one — and the moment you cancel, your seat goes straight back into the public pool with no hold on it. One seat released on 24 August 2026 had been taken by somebody else within the hour.
If both the old and the new slot exist right now, book the new one first and cancel the old one afterwards. If only one exists, cancelling is a one-way door.
How scarce is it, really
Outside a release, sparse and erratic. A sweep of both cafés at every party size from one to six, across the whole bookable window, found zero bookable slots on 24 August 2026. A comparable sweep on 29 August 2026 found nine. Both numbers are real; that spread is the point.
What the café's terms prohibit
Before reaching the booking form you agree to a terms page. Among the conduct it prohibits, read on 23 August 2026:
- proxy or agency booking, and using a reservation made that way;
- reselling or transferring reservations for profit;
- commercial use of the reservation service;
- anything liable to obstruct the service or cause it to malfunction.
The stated consequence is not a warning: a reservation found to be in breach may be voided and entry refused, with no refund of any kind and no pre-order bonuses.
If you are thinking of paying an agency to make a reservation for you, that is the paragraph to read twice. The penalty falls on the reservation, which means it falls on you at the door.
